A glimpse from our studio

This is a mural art depicting two Rajasthani ladies in their traditional attire and jewellery showcasing their humility and confidence at the same time. The background shows the mud wall that is beautifully decorated and set against the sandy dessert landscape. The glass pieces in the costume and background is done in order to weave the traditional rajasthani mirror work into this piece of art. This would go great on your living room wall with a divan set right below it. A few complimentary wall hangings and curtains should do the trick.

This is a ceramic art work symbolising a pair of fish and sea weeds all around them. Will also be great to decorate your child's room and you can even have a sea world theme. A curtain and a good bed spread with the marine theme should get your child's interest.
Giving your child's room a theme helps in 2 ways
1. They love to play in their room thus keeping the toys within the room
2. Keeping the room clean.

P.S: We can't guarantee the above two points though :-)

Rajasthani mural making

we would like to share a mural making method we used , with you all. It is quite interesting to do. Of all the paintings and crafts we learnt , both of us liked to do more of the murals, as they help to bring out your creativity and try new variations. As there is no hard and fast rule that you must use only one kind of material or so on. You have the option of using various things that you can lay your hands on , starting from saw dust, mirror pieces, use a mixture of paintings (oils to water colours) etc. So lets get starterd. Hope this will be interesting . Here the explation is given for the above mural. Using this procedure you can do many others using creative ideas of your own.

Materials required:

MDF board (here we have used 12*14) size.
3tbsp Chalk powder
2 tbsp ceramic powder
2 tbsp Fevicol
1 packet M-seal
Trace of the design
Acrylic/fabric/oil colours 9whichever is available)
Clear varnish
Brushes
Sand paper
Carbon sheet

Method:

1. Take the MDF board and wipe it clean. Mix the given amount of chalk and ceramic powder with fevicol and add required ware to make it into a mixture of dosa batter consistency. Apply this on the board using a flat brush evenly( 2 coats). allow it to dry completly. Slightly sand the board to make it smooth.
2. Using a carbon trace the design on to your board. In this case we traced the rajasthani lady's design on the board(hence we named it rajasthani mural), Better to use yellow carbon to do the tracing.
3.We used the M-seal clay to do the jewellery for the lady. Stick them using fevicol where required. We made patterns on the jewellery using pen knife refills etc. You can paste some kundan stones on the jewellery to make it more interesting. Allow it to dry for some time. M-seal dries up fast so you have to work fast.
4. Paint the entire design according to requirement using the paints. Here we have used more colours to bring in th flavour of rajasthan . Then once the painting is dry, you can paste (different shapes) and some stones also on the sari, pallu etc.
5. Then give one or coating of varnish on the entire painting leaving the mirrors and stones. Thus your mural is ready. Happy mural making. Send in your comments on this to us and also if you have any new ideas that you have used in mural making. It will be help ful to us.
